Our Programs
Babies Room
In the babies room, we are very lucky to have 4 babies in the room per day allowing a lot of one on one time between educator and children. Each child’s needs are catered for individually which revolves mainly around eating and sleeping until they are mobile enough to explore their environment. Our main aim is to provide a nurturing environment that is stimulating and challenging to assist in developmental milestones of infants and encourage their learning with age-appropriate toys and activities.
Babies then move into the toddler’s room around the age of 18 months, after much discussion between educators and parents taking into the account the individual needs and developmental stage of the child.
Toddler Room
In the toddler room, we recognize that the children are in a crucial chapter of their development where they are learning to become capable and independent young individuals. Our aim is to support each and every child towards this outcome by fostering the development and emergence of their own unique personalities. We strive to encourage the children to learn the most important self-help skills they need to prepare them for the next stages of their life. We value the importance of children experiencing a carefree and relaxed environment and our emphasis is on learning through play. Our program provides children with countless opportunities to experience the benefits and enjoyment of engaging in exploration activities, sensory experiences, connection with their natural world and periods of unstructured play where they can assert their own ideas and preferences. The toddler’s interests are at the heart of all the work we do and our monthly program reflects this by building on what the children have expressed an eagerness to learn about, and incorporates feedback from the parents and families. We hope to help all the toddlers grow into curious, enthusiastic learners ready to enter the preschool stage of their lives.
Kindergarten
Our funded Kindergarten program at Canterbury Child Care Centre is designed to create opportunities for children to learn through play. We strive to create a positive environment for children to explore, learn and socialize. Holistic learning is achieved by play spaces and activities such as music and movement, art, sensory experiences, expressions, and projects. Our early-learning curriculum is also catered for children of different cultural backgrounds, views, behaviors and developmental needs. To further support and enhance each child’s strengths and uniqueness, our program and curriculum are carefully planned around children’s learning disposition using the Early Years Learning Framework as a guideline. The Framework is a key component of the Australian Government’s National Quality Framework for early childhood education and care. It describes the principles, practices, and outcomes that support children’s learning from birth to five years of age, as well as their transition to school.
